BALTIMORE, MD (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Ehamufu Community in Isi Uzo local government Area of Enugu State, was on Tuesday thrown into confusion, as no fewer than nine persons were hacked to death by a man identified as one Onyekachi Ugwu of Ngelefi in the locality.
Meanwhile, the state police command, says it has commenced a full scale investigations into the unfortunate incident.
AFRICAN EXAMINER gathered that the suspect who is currently at large had gone to the Ngelefi farm settlement in the Night where various families resides including his parents and allegedly matcheted his father to death and set their house ablaze which left his father, domestic animals, motorcycle and other household materials burnt.
The State police public Relations officer, PPRO Ebere Amarizu, who confirmed the incident to our Correspondent in Enugu, said the killer also visited other houses at the settlement where he also matcheted the occupants to death including a year and six month old baby in one of the houses at the settlement.
The little baby brought the total number of death including his father to Nine.
Further revelation had it that the mother of the suspect was lucky to have escaped the unfortunate incident as she would have been counted as one of the victims.
However, the entire area has been enveloped with fear due to the activity of the suspect who is alleged to have mental case.
Search for the suspect according to the PPRO, has been intensified by a combined team of the Police and the Neighbourhood watch group who are combing bushes and suspected hideout of the suspect in order to stop further killings.
