As the battle for the governorship of Plateau State continues to gather momentum ahead of the 2015 polls, a group under the aegis of Equity and Justice Forum, has called on the National Leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party to dissolve the State Exco of the party, for what it describe as “grave ineptitude and insensitivity to the aims and political aspirations of its members.
The leader of the group and former Chairman of the PDP in the State, Prof. Dakum Shown, while addressing journalists in Jos, said, “the State Exco of the party has shown grave ineptitude and insensitivity to the aims and political aspirations of it members. So bad is the situation that the Chairman and his team have surrendered their official functions to the Governor and descended to serve his commissioners and appointees on electoral matters which are primarily party functions.
The group, which is a composition of some PDP elders in the State, added that, “most Local Government Areas did not hold the mandatory congress for the election of adhoc delegates. We caution that reliance on the list of delegates produced at sham congresses will have devastating electoral consequences for the party in the forthcoming general elections.”
“The reckless and lawless manner in which PDP conduct its affairs in Plateau State is insensitive and disrespectful to the feelings and expectation of it members.
“Our desire is to win the general elections. Unfortunately both the government and the party conduct themselves as if winning the Primaries is their ultimate objective.” He explained
The group that is agitating that it is the turn of Plateau South to produce the next governor in the state, maintained that power must shift to the south in the spirit of fairness.
“The people who gave Mr. President over 1million votes in the last elections are crying out with pain and anguish. Do not ignore them otherwise the consequences could be disastrous. If however our great party decides to stand with the government against the people, it must be prepared to count the cost at the end.” The group warned.
