Impeachment Threats Against Governors Worrisome —NLC
Latest Headlines, News Monday, July 21st, 2014The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) says the spate of impeachment threat against governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is suspicious and worrisome.
The national vice president of the NLC, Isa Aremu who stated this over the weekend in Ilorin argued that the impeachments are politically motivated.
“The one that is worrisome to me is that of Nassarawa. The impeachment notice was served just at the time the president was visiting the state.” He noted
Aremu argued further “Even the timing alone makes it to be suspicious. I want President Jonathan to use his office to re-direct our political discourse along the line of statesmanship. He has done it before and I think he can do it again.”
Rather than instigating an impeachment, the Labour leader wants electorates to be allowed to remove corrupt governors through the ballot box.
