Ihedioha Furious At Nass Management Over Eviction Order Against Legislators
Featured, Latest Headlines Wednesday, June 3rd, 2015Aydele Afolabi, Abuja – Following the ejection order issued against the member of the National Assembly by the management, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Emeka Ihedioha has warned the management from going ahead to forcefully eject members from their offices.
The speaker who gave the warning Wednesday at the plenary insisted that members can only vacate their offices after the last sitting of the 7th Assembly on Thursday.
He maintained that the management of the National Assembly was wrong in forcefully ejecting members of the House while they are still working for the country.
According to him, “the members of the House have till the last day to stay in office, it is morally wrong for civil servants to eject a lawmaker under the pretext that they want to renovate the offices in preparation for the incoming lawmakers.”
The National Assembly management had issued a notice asking lawmakers to vacate their offices by the 18th of May to allow for renovations in preparations for their allocations to new members.
In compliance with this directives, aides to the members were seeing moving office equipment and relevant documents out of the National Assembly.
