IGP Warns Against Deployment Of Para-Military To Polling Units
Featured, Latest Headlines, Nigeria 2015 Election Thursday, March 26th, 2015From Ganiyu Nasirudeen – The Inspector General of Police, Suleimon Abba has ordered against the presence of para military agencies’ officers, such as Boys Scout, Vigilante Group, Boys Brigade, Peace Ambassador, Man ‘O War within 300 metres of a polling unit.
Similarly, he has directed the restriction of vehicular movement during the Saturday, March 28 and April 11 Presidential and Governorship Elections, between 8.00 and 2.00 pm.
In a statement issued Wednesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Ag. Emmanuel Ojukwu, IGP Abba warned politicians and VIPs against going to polling units on the election days, with armed orderlies, as well as use of siren, revolving lights, tinted glasses by unauthorized citizens.
He reassured members of the public of the Force commitment to the provision of “round – the – clock” security before, during and after general elections for the teeming citizens of the country.
The Police boss also urged the citizens to be law abiding while exercising their civic responsibility.
