IGP Abubakar Lauds Interpol on Deportation of Nyaya Disaster Suspect, Ogwuche
Crime Watch, Latest Headlines, News Wednesday, July 16th, 2014The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Abubakar has commended the personnel of the Police Interpol Unit, on the extradition of the co-mastermind suspect of the Nyanya Motor Park bomb, Sadiq Aminu Ogwuche from the Republic of Sudan.
In a release issued in Abuja, late Tuesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Frank Mba, IGP while commending the Interpol Unit officers, noted that the successful repatriation of the terror fugitive to Nigeria showed that the global coalition against terrorism championed by Nigeria has started yielding the desirable result.
Mba explained in the statement that following the conclusion of tortuous legal and diplomatic processes on the blast suspect in which many died and hundreds wounded, Ogwuche was yesterday extradited to the country from Sudan where he had taken refuge.
He pointed out that Aminu Ogwuche who was handed over to the Interpol Unit of the Nigeria Police Force by the Sudanese authorities was flown into the country in a special flight from Khartoum, the country’s capital which landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport 3.00pm Tuesday.
The Force Spokesperson revealed that the terror fugitive’s extradition who had been arrested in Sudan sequel to “international red notice” issued for his arrest by the Nigeria National Bureau of Interpol was delayed due to “necessary processes involved in transferring suspects from one country to another”.
