IGP Abba Re-constitutes Gender Unit; Appoints Gender Adviser

In order to check the high level of violence against female gender in the country, the Acting Inspector General Police (IGP), Suleimon Abba, has re-constituted the Force Unit.
Consequently, he has appointed CSP Olabisi Kolawole as the Gender Adviser to the Nigeria Police.
In a press statement by the Force Public Relations Officer in Abuja headquarters, Ag. CP Emmanuel Ojukwu, the new Force Unit objectives included but not limited to: ensuring the implementation of a robust capacity building plan for officers in gender related issues; ensuring the inclusion of gender training in Nigeria police curriculum; at all levels; looking into the establishment of gender desk officers in Police formations nationwide and enhancing the already existing collaboration with other stakeholders in the area of gender equality.
