IGP Abba Directs Police Chiefs To Expand Patrols Across The Country
Latest Headlines, News Monday, December 22nd, 2014Ganiyu Nasirudeen – As the Christmas and new year celebrations approach, the Inspector General of Police, Suleimon Abba has directed all Zonal Assistant Inspectors General of Police (IGP) and commissioners of Police across the State of Federation, to put in place extended Police visibility and patrols to ensure security of lives and properties during the festivity periods.
In a statement issued Monday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CP Emmanuel Ojukwu, the Police Boss has also deployed the various striking units; Police Mobile Force; Special Protection Unit; Counter terrorism Unit; explosive ordinance department; dog section and mounted troop as part of the water – tight security measures.
The Police airwing the statement revealed would carry out air surveillance patrols while the Marine Police would ensure a sustained patrol of all waterways.
As the yuletide preparations progress, Abba urged operators of public places to be more vigilant and ensure they screen properly, all visitors as well as users of their facilities during the seasons.
