Hoodlums Attack NDLEA Office In Abia
Featured, Latest Headlines, News Across Nigeria, News From The State Wednesday, May 12th, 2021(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Armed men, have attacked the Amaekpu office of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA, in Ohafia Council Area of Abia State, South – East Nigeria.
Commandant of the agency in the State, Mr. Bamidele Akingbade, who confirmed the development to newsmen on Tuesday, said it took place on Monday at about 3 pm, blaming the attack on hoodlums.
The Abia NDLEA boss, disclosed that only a section of the office complex was set on fire by the attackers.
Akingbade, said that the hoodlums target was to free the suspects being detained in the facility.
He stated that “the suspects were relocated out of the facility, in the wake of Monday’s attack at the nearby office of the Independent National Electoral Commission,” he said.
The Commander hinted that no casualties was recorded during the attack, and that their weapons were intact.
According to him, important official documents of the Agency were stored in a fire-proof safe.
Meanwhile, the state government has vowed that it would spare no efforts to get the masterminds of the criminal act.
Reacting to the attack, Abia state Commissioner for Information, Chief Okiyi Kalu, said government will do everything within its powers to make sure that the criminal elements behind the act are apprehended and brought to book.
