Hoodlums Attack Enugu Govt House, As Security Operatives Kill One, Arrest Three

About fifty unknown young men armed with cutlasses and other dangerous weapons on Saturday attack the Enugu government.
The hoodlums stormed the Government House early this morning at about 4:30 am.
However, vigilant security operatives attached to the Enugu seat of power foiled the attack.
Though our correspondent gathered that some of the hoodlums had already scaled through the high fence of the premises before they were overpowered by the security agents who opened fire on them.
It was also gathered that before the armed security operatives at the government house could rise to the occasion, the attackers had already allegedly inflicted injuries on some unarmed members of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC operatives attached to the main gate of the government House.
Confirming the incident to African Examiner in Enugu, Chukwudi Achife, the Chief Press Secretary CPS to Governor Sullivan Chime, said “the attack occurred when at about 4.30 am, a group of young men numbering about 50 and carrying machetes and cutlasses invaded the Government House and tried to force their way in”.
“The attackers were immediately engaged by the security personnel who shot dead one person and arrested three”.
According to him “one security personnel was injured in the attack”.
He added that the arrested persons along with some e of the weapons recovered have since been handed over to the Enugu Police Command for further investigation.
Meanwhile, when African Examiner visited the government House this afternoon, security in the place has been beefed up with more uniform personnel.
When contacted, the state police public Relations officer, PPRO, Ebere Amarizu, said the issue is being handled by the government House chief security officer CS0.
