The ongoing political crisis rocking the Enugu State chapter of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), took another twist Wednesday morning as rampaging suspected political thugs invaded and attacked occupants of the Ikeoha Foundation Medical Mission, belonging to Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu.
While the attack lasted, the hoodlums assaulted and inflicted injuries on several people with dangerous weapons, at the Foundation located in Ezeagu council Area of the State.
A source in the community told newsmen that the ugly incident, which allegedly left some persons dead, has created confusion and tension in the area.
When contacted, the State’s Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) Ebere Amarizu said, “we don’t have such report, when we get it I will let you know”
Ikeoha Foundation is a humanitarian organization, owned and funded by the country’s number two Senator.
Senator Ekweremadu and his political camp has in the recent times clashed with the Governor Sullivan Chime’s over differences in their political interest. The cold war between the duo was evident in the outcome of the recent State’s ruling PDP ward congresses as the gladiators differed on the conduct and result of the exercise.
While Senator Ekweremadu’s camp approved the exercise, Governor Chime’s faction of the State PDP declared congress did not take place, hence the result announced by the Senator’s faction was a nullity.
