Hit-And-Run-Driver Crushes Man To Death In Lagos
Featured, Lagos, Latest Headlines, News Tuesday, October 8th, 2013A hit and run car has crushed a man to death on Gbadaga Expressway in Lagos, Nigeria at the early hours of Tuesday.
The man, identified as Oguntimehin Oluwayemi was said to have been crushed to death while trying to cross the expressway when the fast moving car crushed him to death and did not stop.
An eyewitness told African Examiner that the victim died about 20 minutes after the accident took place as there was no vehicle to rush him to the nearby Gbagada General Hospital for urgent treatment.
It was gathered that the man was still breathing immediately the accident occurred but since there was no help, he died. His address could not be located. His identity was only ascertained after an ATM was recovered from him.
The accident, which took place between Mafowuku and Gbadaga Bus stop was gory as leaves were used in covering up the deceased.
Kabiawu Babajide, the General Secretary of Council of Oworonsoki Youth Forum COYF said “people came to rescue him off the express way but there was no vehicle that can help to carry him to the General Hospital at Gbagada. Oguntimehin died after 20 minutes of the incident. He sustains head injury, broken leg and broken hand.
“The ATM card in his pocket indicated his identity but we do not know where he resides. We called the emergency number 112 and 767, they promised that the emergency team will come to the scene but they did not arrive after six hours before we left the scene.”
