Health Minister Confirms Nigeria Has Only One Ebola Case

The Nigerian Health Minister, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu has confirmed fresh case of deadly Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in the country.
The latest and only case according to Professor Chukwu on Monday was the wife of Dr. Enemuo who treated one of the country’s primary contact and first casualty in Lagos as well as only index case so far – Liberian – American, late Patrick Sawyer. Late Enemuo died on August 22 in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital.
Health Minister who disclosed that another sister of the late Doctor receiving treatment in Lagos isolation centre has fully recovered. He explained that latest development brought to 19 total number of confirmed EVD victims in the country, out of which seven died, but 10 survived.
He added that another 21 suspected patients have been asked to go home after the lapse of the required 21 days of closed observation.
In the meantime, the Health Minister informed presently, there were total of 27 and 477 suspected victims who were under surveillance in Lagos and Port Harcout respectively, with only one confirmed EVD case.
