Gunmen Wearing NSCDC Uniforms Abducts Bayelsa Royal Father
Latest Headlines, News From The State Monday, February 23rd, 2015Less than 24 hours Mr. Freddy Ndigbara, an aide to governor Rotimi Ameachi, of Rivers state was kidnapped by gunmen,a Paramount ruler in Ikeinghenbiri Kingdom of Bayelsa State, Chief Collins Adikoko has also been abducted by unidentified gunmen.
The monarch, was kidnapped by gunmen who wore uniform of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.
Adikoko, a deputy paramount ruler in the area was whisked away in the Southern Ijaw council area of the president Goodluck Jonathan’s state at the weekend.
A member of the family who craved anonymity told newsmen on Monday “at about 2am on Saturday, three gunmen stormed the monarch’s house and forcefully carried him away.
Our Correspondent gathered that the Royal father was taken to an unknown destination in a waiting speedboat, which was brought by the kidnappers.
The family source said: “They arrived at the residence of the traditional ruler in the early hours of Saturday.
“They were three. Two were wearing the uniforms of the NSCDC, while one wore the reflective jackets used by the youth vigilance group.
“They fired several shots and abducted the monarch. Thereafter, they escaped in a waiting speedboat.”
Meanwhile, the development has thrown the entire kindom into anxiety and tension.
Mr. Asinim Butswat, the Bayelsa State Police public Relations officer, PPRO who confirmed the incident, said the command has already swung into action in search of the gang.
He said the police is determined in rescuing the monarch, as well as nab perpetrators of the inhuman act.
