Gunmen Kill Two Policemen In Enugu

FROM IGNATIUS OKPARA, Enugu – Armed bandits, suspected to be armed robbers, have killed two policemen in Enugu.

African Examiner gathered that the ugly incident happened along the popular Nza Street, Independence Layout, Enugu, late Thursday night.

An eye witness who does not want to be quoted in the media disclosed that the policemen were at a checkpoint when they were attacked by the gunmen, who were in a queue of vehicles that were flagged down for inspection by the security operatives.

Several vehicles were queued up behind the vehicle conveying the gunmen. The state police Public Relations Officer. Ebere Amaraizu, confirmed the incident.

According to him, the command, has commenced full scale investigation into the incident.

Amarizu, vowed that the culprits would be apprehended and brought to book, adding that the police is already on the trail of perpetrators of the unholy act.

He said :“We are on their trail and definitely we will get them soon, they cannot get away with this,” the PPRO stated.

However,, the bodies of the slain policemen have been deposited at the morgue of the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital UNTH, Ituku Ozalla, Enugu.
