Gunmen Kill 30 People in Renewed Attack on Plateau Village

Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen invaded shonong village in Bachit District of Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State on Monday killing about 30 people with 25 others left with bullet wounds and severe injuries.
Reports say those killed are mostly children, women and the aged.
African Examiner gathered that about 40 houses and several valuables were burnt during the unfortunate raid.
It was also gathered that domestic animals were also killed while some were carted away by the attackers.
An eyewitness told African Examiner that the attackers came to the village at about 7am Monday morning and started shooting sporadically at any anything insight.
One of the injured persons, Shom Toma, who is receiving treatment at Vom Christian Hospital, also told our correspondent that the attackers came when most of the villagers had gone to the farm.
Several people have also been declared missing, because they ran to different directions for safety when the Gunmen began the operation.
Confirming the incident, the Majority Leader and member representing Riyom in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Daniel Dem, said “if Special Task Force are in the village and the attack took place from 8am to 12noon, then the military has so many questions to answer.
