Gunmen kill 3 APC Members In Imo
Crime Watch, Ignatius Okpara, Latest Headlines, News Monday, June 8th, 2015FROM IGNATIUS OKPARA, Owerri – Heavily armed unknown gunmen have killed three members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Umuokpo Village in Nwangele local government area of Imo State.
According to a source in the community, the deceased Mr. Placid Ejimmadu, Livinus Iwumune and Jonathan Ibemere were shot dead last Sunday around 8pm.
The source said they were relaxing in the shop of the wife of one of the deceased, Ejimmadu, when the hoodlums attacked and killed them.
“They were sitting at the shop that evening when they noticed a black jeep approaching with full beam of its headlamps”.
“Suddenly, an unidentified man alighted from the jeep and started shooting at Mr. Ejimmadu and his cousin, Mr. Iwumune.
“His wife even fell down, and I think that was how she escaped being shot by the man”, the source said.
The state commissioner of police, Mr. Austin Evbakhavbokun confirmed the incident, saying the command was aware of the ugly event.
He added that it was a case of homicide but would not confirm whether it was politically motivated or a case of armed robbery attack.
