Gunmen Kidnap Osun Perm Sec, 2 Others In Kogi
Featured, Latest Headlines, News Saturday, April 23rd, 2016BALTIMORE, MD (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Gunmen have kidnapped the Osun State Permanent Secretary for Finance, Mrs. Adebimpe Ogunlumade and two other officials in Kogi State while on their way from Abuja.
Others kidnapped are: the Director, State Audit, Mr. Tajudeen Badejoko, and the Driver, Mr. Oladapo Ajani Arogundade.
They were kidnapped in Lokoja, Kogi State on Friday afternoon and there whereabouts is still yet unknown.
Osun State Head of Service, Mr. Mr. Sunday Olayinka Owoeye, in a statement confirmed the kidnap of the three officials, describing the kidnap as unfortunate.
“The State Government of Osun wishes to alert on the unfortunate kidnap of three of its officials today Friday April 22, 2016 in Kogi State.
“The kidnapped officials are the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Finance, Mrs. Adebimpe Ogunlumade; Director, State Audit, Mr. Tajudeen Badejoko, and the Driver, Mr. Oladapo Ajani Arogundade.
“Preliminary information available to us indicate that the gunmen accosted them between Obajana and Lokoja the Kogi State capital and forced to stop before the three officials were violently whisked away,” he said in the statement.
He explained that the officials were returning from Abuja where they attended the briefing on the State and Local Government Reforms Project; a World Bank and European Union Programme.
The Head of Service added that the government had alerted all necessary security agencies nationwide in general and Kogi State in particular towards safe release of the three abducted officials, while appealing to all Nigerians for information that could lead to their immediate release.
