Group Uses FOI To File Request For Buhari, Osibanjo Asset Declaration
Featured, Latest Headlines, Press Releases Tuesday, June 2nd, 2015By Eric Ojo – The Stop Impunity Nigeria Campaign group has asked the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau to make available to it the asset declaration forms submitted to the Bureau by President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
The President and his Vice President last week declared their asset in line with the provisions of the Code of Conduct Act.
In an application made pursuant to the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act, 2011 and delivered to the office of the Bureau’s chairman on Monday, June 1, 2015, the Campaign, comprising the Centre for Social Justice (CSJ), Community Life Project (CLP), Human Development Initiative (HDI), and Media Rights Agenda (MRA), specifically asked to be given access to the details of the declaration made by both of them which is in the custody of the Bureau.
The group, according to a statement made available to African Examiner, requested for a copy of Assets Declaration Form submitted to the Code of Conduct Bureau by General Muhammadu Buhari on May 28, 2015 or thereabout in accordance with Section 140(1) of the 1999 Constitution, as amended.
They equally asked for the Assets Declaration Form submitted to the Code of Conduct Bureau by Professor Yemi Osinbajo on May 28, 2015 or thereabout in accordance with Section 142(2) of the 1999 Constitution, as amended.
The Campaign said it expected to receive the documents within the seven days stipulated by the Freedom of Information Act.
