President Goodluck Jonathan has been called to quickly douse the tension and controversy trailing the withdrawal of the security details to the House Of Representatives Speaker, Rt. Hon Aminu Tambuwal owing to his defection from the ruling PDP to opposition APC.
In doing this, the President has been urged to call the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Suleimon Abba to order and immediately return the number four citizen security operatives.
The National President of The Companion, an Association of Muslim men in Business and Professions, Barrister Musibau Oyefeso made this call in a press statement sent to AFRICAN EXAMINER Tuesday.
The group affirmed that the country presently had more than enough crises on its hand to grapple with, therefore could not afford another self-inflicted chaos.
It added it was on record that as at the time IGP Abba withdrew the security details of Tambuwal, there was no leadership vacuum or crisis in the House of Representatives, rather was on recess and the parliament did not declare his seat vacant.
“The unilateral action of the Acting Inspector General is therefore condemnable and regrettable. It is an act of impunity and recklessness which must be curbed…” it stressed
The Companion which described the development as very sad in the polity declared it was capable of throwing the country into “avoidable and unnecessary crisis” especially now that the country is preparing for another general elections.
It enjoined the President and the political class to be mindful of the recent development in Burkina Faso, hence stop the the lawlessness.
