Governorship Tussle: Ambode Floors Agbaje At Appeal

By Ayo Balogun – Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has again floored his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) contestant in the last governorship election as the Appeal Court on Wednesday upheld Ambode’s victory.
The Lagos Division of the Court upheld the decision of the Electoral Tribunal which had ruled in favour of Ambode in July, declaring Ambode as the winner of the election.
The court affirmed that Agbaje’s suit lacked merit and threw it out.
The court ordered Agbaje to compensate each of the respondents with N50,000.
Ambode had won the keenly contested election on 11 April, 2015 by polling over 811,99 votes while Agbaje got about 659,788.
