Gombe Police Confirm Death Of Tuesday Suicide Bomber

From Mustapha Abdul Salaam – The Gombe Police Command has confirmed one casualty – the suicide bomber who stormed the Kasunwa vicinity of Gombe, the State capital Tuesday evening.
The Command Spokesperson, Fwaje Atajiri, disclosed that the suicide bomber came through a motorcycle, with improvised Explosive Devices, and actually targeted the Muslim worshippers that came to observe the sunset prayers in a Mosque within the affected area.
Police spokesperson also said security personnel who arrived the venue of the blast were attacked by hoodlums who threw stones at them.
Mr. Atajiri explained that the urchins tried to stop the Police from cordoning off the area, as they made to break into the shops and loot them. He also indicated the security applied minimum force to disperse them.
He informed that the bomber died due to the eruption and his failed attempt to wreak havoc, sequel to security measures put in place to secure the State.
In the meantime, it is speculated that the incumbent State Governor, Hassan Dankwambo is perfecting arrangement to effect the arrest of his predecessor, Senator Danjuma Goje, over alleged instigation of political violence in the State.
Both Dankwambo and Senator Goje have been at loggerheads since 2013 when the latter dumped the ruling PDP and cross carpeted to the leading opposition APC. Ever since, it has been one accusation/allegation after the other and counter from the duo, a situation that has made unpredictable, the outcome of the coming general elections in the state. Senator Goje is said to be popular in the State and perceived as a grass root politician.
