Gana Says N21Bn Jonathan’s Fund For Both Campaigns And Capital Projects At PDP Secretariat
Featured, Latest Headlines, Nigeria 2015 Election, Uncategorized Monday, January 5th, 2015Ayo Balogun, Abuja – A chieftain of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and one time Information Minister, Prof. Jerry Gana has defended that the sum of N21.8 Billion generated at President Goodluck Jonathan campaign fund raising was meant for that purpose as well as to execute some capital projects belonging to the party.
Prof. Gana made the clarification Monday while addressing newsmen in FCT, Abuja. He explained that the permanent headquarters of the PDP which has been abandoned was one of the beneficiaries of the jumbo fund.
The former Minister restated that the present administration had since resolved that it must complete the project so that the ruling party would relocate to it, adding that he was honoured to lead other “very distinguished team of Nigerians to prepare for the fund raising”.
While specifying the exact figure needed, Prof. Gana disclosed that the sum of N10 Billion was required to finish the party’s secretariat; also revealed the central motive of the the event (fund raising) was to empower the party, so as to supports its candidates contesting various positions across the country.
The ex Minister of Agriculture said: “I am not the chairman of that fund raising team, but I am sure the President will appoint somebody and I am sure they are already working hard and being a humble Nigerian, he wants to do it quietly and people will donate to him, people who believe in his candidature of the PDP.
“So, we want to make it clear that the money raised was for the PDP and a substantial part of it will be for the completion of this building.”
Prof. Gana comfirmed despite the insecurity in the North Eastern part of the countrys, President Jonatha Camapaign train would tour the zone for vote canvassing.
