There are indications that the short supply of petrol across Nigeria may still linger for a while as Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) attributed the current fuel scarcity to the late payment of importers.
The new Executive Secretary of Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) Faruk Ahmed stated this during the 2014 budget defence of the agency before the Senate committee on Petroleum downstream.
Ahmed added that rumoured federal government withdrawal of subsidy, which resulted in panic buying in some parts of the country is also one of the reasons for the lingering fuel shortage.
The PPPRA Executive Secretary explained that as part of measure to address the fuel crisis, about 200 million liters of petroleum products are being discharge across the nation’s ports.
