FRSC Begins Accident Free Yuletide Seasons Campaign
Featured, Latest Headlines Thursday, December 18th, 2014From Mustapha Abdul Salaam, Makurdi – Barely a week to the Christmas celebration, the Federal Roads Safety Commission (FRSC) has started taken measures for accident – free festivity seasons as its Benue State Command has dispatched its men to the State’s highways and recalled the staff currently observing their annual leave.
The State Sector Command Habu Dauda, revealed this Thursday, while addressing newsmen in Makurdi, the State capital.
The decision, Dauda affirmed was to ensure a wide coverage of the State by the Commission’s officials. He also informed that special Marshals would soon begin foot patrols, so as to be kept abreast of the activities of the road users, especially the level of compliance to the existing traffic rules.
The Commander who specified the scope of FRSC checks would include: tyres expiry dates; driving and telephone calls; use of seat belts; state of the vehicles; overloading and over speeding, also confirmed to the journalists in the State capital that, the patrol vehicles in the State six units have been adequately equipped, while the officers have also been trained on accident and victims management.
The sector head commended the State’s Emergency Management Agency for long collaboration between FRSC men and its officials during accidents and emergencies.
