Fourth Term Lawmaker, Mudashiru Obasa Emerges New Lagos State Speaker
Featured, Latest Headlines, News From The State Monday, June 8th, 2015By Niyi Adeyi, The Lagos State 8th House of Assembly has elected a long term State’s Legislator, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, of Agege Constituency 1 as its new Speaker.
Obasa was nominated Monday at the inaugural plenary by Hon. Olanrewaju Oshun representing Mainland Constituency II, while his motion was seconded by another lawmaker, Hon. Sola Giwa representing Lagos Island constituency II.
Obasa was finally elected unopposed by his colleagues as the successor of the past State’s Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adeyemi Ikuforiji.
In a related development, returned and immediate past Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Surajudeen Adekanbi has been re-elected the new Speaker of the State’s 8th Assembly.
Adekanbi who is representing Yewa North Constituency of the State, was elected Monday at the inaugural Plenary of the legislative house.
