Former Petroleum Minister, Alison-Madueke Nabbed In London, Granted Bail

BALTIMORE, MD (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The Minister of Petroleum Resources in the immediate past administration, Mrs. Deizani Alison-Madueke, has been arrested in London by the operatives of the United Kingdom (UK) National Crime Agency.
Allison-Maduekwe, who has been outside Nigeria for over three months ago, was reportedly picked up by the Agency’s operatives Friday in connection with offences relating to fraud and bribery.
Her arrest has however been confirmed by the Crime’s Agency Spokesman In Abuja, Mr. Joe Abuku, who also affirmed that four other persons were arrested alongside with Allison-Madueke.
Specifically, the former Petroleum Minister who has been widely reported to have been living a very flamboyant life as well as indicted with many alleged corrupt cases while in office, was nabbed by the officers of the Seizure Organized Crime Agency (SOCA) of the UK National Crimes Agency for probing of many corruption allegations against her.
The operation – arrest and probe of Allison-Maduekwe, who was one of the closest Ministers to the immediate past President Goodluck Jonathan, was prompted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which has since been on her trail.
Meanwhile, the operatives of the Nigerian anti-graft body, the EFCC have stormed her residence in the Asokoro area of FCT Abuja.
The officers who arrived around 6.30pm engaged in ransacking of the building.
Meanwhile, Reports say Mrs Alison- Madueke has been granted bail in London. She was granted bail on Friday at a magistrate court alongside other 4 persons arrested with her.
