Former IGP Sunday Adewusi Dies At 80

The former IGP died Tuesday night at the National Hospital, Abuja, after a brief illness, at the age of 80.
He joined the Nigeria Police and had his training as a cadet sub-inspector, at the Police College lasted between 1957 and 1958
Late Adewusi who rose to the peak of his career in 1981 at the prime age of 45 was appointed a Commissioner of Police in 1972; an Assistant Inspector-General of Police in 1975; an Assistant Superintendent of Police in 1959; Deputy Superintendent of Police in 1962; Superintendent of Police in 1963; Chief Superintendent of Police in 1967; Assistant Commissioner of Police in 1969 and Deputy Commissioner of Police in 1971.
The former IGP was born in Eggon local Council area of Nassarawa State. He attended Church Missionary Society and Roman Catholic Mission Schools from 1944 to 1948. His standard six education was completed at the Baptist Day School, Jos, between 1949 and 1950. His secondary education in keffi was between 1951 and 1956.
