Flood Kills 18-Year-Old Secondary School Girl in Enugu

Tragedy struck in Enugu on Tuesday morning when a devastating flood carried away an18 -year old girl, Miss Onyinye Akabogu.
The flood was caused by a heavy downpour, which began around 6.am and lasted till noon that fateful day.
African Examiner gathered that Miss Akabogu, a JSS II student of MIC College Abakpa Nike was on her way to school when the flood swept her away.
She was yet to be seen as at the time of filling this report.
The victim, our correspondent gathered, left home for school in company of her brother who is also a student of MIC College when they ran into the disaster.
A close source to the family disclosed that they were very close to the school when the heavy flood came and swept her away.
The brother had shouted for help but to no avail as many people were still indoors because of the heavy downpour.
According to the close family source, parents of the deceased just recently moved to Ugbo-Ezeji area from Nike road.
Meanwhile, the ugly incident has thrown the entire MIC College into confusion as students were seen discussing the tragedy in groups.
It would be recalled that only last month, similar flood wreaked havoc in same Abakpa area of Enugu, destroying properties valued several millions of naira.
Although no life was lost, but about 30 buildings were seriously affected by the disaster, which also pulled down people’s fences, as well as destroy households items such as furniture, electronics, among other properties.
