Five Killed over Farmland Dispute in Nasarawa
Latest Headlines, News Sunday, April 27th, 2014The Nasarawa Police Command on Sunday confirmed that five persons died in the renewed communal crisis in the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Umar Ismaila, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lafia.
He said that the crisis broke out between the Eggon and Gwandara ethnic groups over a farm land at Igga in Nasarawa-Eggon Local Government Area on Saturday.
Umar, however, said that normalcy had been restored in the area following the prompt response of the police to a distress call.
The police spokesman said investigation into the crisis had commenced and urged residents to avoid taking laws into their hands.
He stressed that law enforcement agencies were always on hand and willing to settle all dispute.
