Fire destroys properties worth Millions in Enugu

Residents of No 132 Nike-Road, Abakpa, Enugu, were thrown into confusion in the early hours of sunday, as a building housing over five shops were gutted by a mysterious fire.
African Examiner reports that although, the cause of the inferno which started around 3:25 am is yet-to-be ascertained as at the time of filing this report, but residents and eyewitnesses say properties valued over six million naira was destroyed in the fire.
One of the victims, Mr. Celestine Ezeme, a Refrigerator Technician, who could not control tears that was flowing freely in his chick said, “I got a phone call from my shop neighbor at about 5.12am.
“By the time I got here, fire has razed everything in my shop including that of my neighbors. You can see over fifteen refrigerators and televisions that were brought to me for repairs were burnt.
” What will I tell the owners now? My neighbors deal on groceries and apparels. Though the goods affected by this incident is theirs, the situation is different from mine.

The victims who could not authoritatively say the cause of the fire incident, however, said surge in power supply at the wee hours of yesterday morning may likely be the cause of the deadly fire.
Ebere Amarizu, the Enugu state Police public Relations officer PPRO, when contacted, said he was yet to be briefed about the incident.
But he promised that his office will swing into action to establish link with the Division were the incident occurred, with a view to ascertaining the cause of the fire incident.
