FG Launches School Feeding Programme

Federal government on Thursday launched the school feeding programme to ensure the feeding of over 24 million primary school children.
Vice President Prof Yemi Osinbajo launched the project tagged ‘National Home Grown School Feeding Programme’ at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.
FG is expected to provide one meal per day for school children in government owned primary school nationwide in the first year of its operation.
The scheme is part of the N500 billion allocated to social investment fund in 2016 budget signed President Muhammadu Buhari in May.
According to a statement from the Office of the Vice President, the strategic plans will run until 2020 and forms the cornerstone of the nationwide Home Grown School Feeding programme.
The event was attended by governors of Borno, Oyo, Osun and Kaduna states with other government representatives and stakeholders from 36 states of the federation and development partners.
