FG Declares Monday, Tuesday Public Holidays to Celebrate Ramadan
Latest Headlines, National News, News Wednesday, July 23rd, 2014The Federal Government has declared Monday and Tuesday, July 28 and 29 respectively as public holidays to mark the Muslims’ end of (29 or 30 days) annual Ramadan fasting.
The Minister of Interior, Mr. Abba Moro made the announcement in Abuja on Wednesday. Moro said love, peace and justice were the spiritual benefits of the Ramadan which climaxes on Saturday or Sunday. He enjoined the Muslims to extend the benefits of the blissful month to their daily lives.
The Minister in a press statement urged Nigerians to “seize the opportunity of the holiday to reflect on the imperative of peace in nation building” and wish the faithful a most rewarding and peaceful celebration.
Ramadan fasting is one month obligatory devotion on every matured and healthy Muslim. This year’s exercise began on Saturday, June 28 in Nigeria and most parts of the world.
