FG Backslides, Directs Schools To Resume September 22

The Federal Government has announced Monday September 22, 2014 as the new resumption date for the country’s Primary/Nursery and secondary schools.
The Minister of Education, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau made the announcement Friday after the general meeting with the states’ Commissioners For Education in Abuja.
Shekarau said the decision was reached as the measures taken against further spread of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in the country by the various arms of government were yielding expected results.
He stated the schools were expected to put in place, devices and equipment to measure students’ temperature, while the teachers should be trained on how to make use of such facilities to manage the spread of the virus.
It would be recalled Federal government last week extended the resumption date of the schools across the country from September 13 to October 13, this year.
Nigeria has recorded seven EVD casualties with the first and one index case of the Liberian – American, late Patrick Sawyer who died in Lagos in July.
