Federal Government Reverses Doctors’ Sack, Returns Residency Training

The suspension of the residency-training programme for medical doctors in the public hospitals nationwide has been lifted by the Federal Government.
The government has also reversed the sack of the 16,000 Doctors who recently downed tool over poor condition of service.
Following the new development, the chief Medical Directors at medical centres have been directed to formally reinstate the resident doctors.
The Federal government stated that the latest directive, which was effective from yesterday (August 28, 2014) was a call and challenge to the doctors who just returned to work to demonstrate much commitment and dedication to duties.
It would be recalled the Federal Government sacked over 16,000 of the striking medical doctors about two weeks ago.
Their residency-training programme was also cancelled. The industrial action was called off last Sunday, while formal resumption was Monday, August 25, 2014.
