False Assets Declartion: Saraki Loses At CCT To Stop Trial

Senate President, Bukola Saraki has again lost in his bid to stop the Code of Conduct (CCT) Tribunal from hearing the suit alleging against him, false assets declaration.
Saraki’s new Leading Counsel and former AGF, Mr. Kanu Agabi (SAN) had about two weeks ago during the resumed hearing of the trial, filed a new motion, challenging the special court to have lacked jurisdiction to hear the suit against him, as well as argued that the entire suit was filed in bad faith and against the interest of the country.
After argument and counter within the last two weeks between Agabi and the prosecutor’s Counsel, Mr Rotimi Jacobs (SAN), the CCT Chairman, Justice Danladi Umaru adjourned the next hearing till Thursday, (today) March 24, 2016.
The 10 count charge allegations against Saraki, dated back to when he was two term Governor of Kwara State.
If found guility, Saraki will lose his position as the head of the upper legislative chambers, as well as earn ban from holding public offices within certain period of time.
