This is certainly not the best time for Alhaji Adamu Muazu, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as some influential elements in his party are plotting to remove him.
Source at the PDP National Secretariat said that the court case instituted to sack him by his immediate predecessor, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur was orchestrated by these influential chieftains.
The source said that some aggrieved governors who are either seeking to impose their successors or those who want to secure senate tickets are parts of the plot.
“They became angry that after acceding to the request to make President Goodluck Jonathan consensus presidential candidate of the party, they were not allowed to nominate their successors.
“Other Governors were angry that Muazu was behind the plot to cajole the President to grant automatic tickets to Senators.”
It was learnt that it was the Governors who threw their weight behind Tukur to proceed to the court to reclaim his mandate.
Tukur who resigned in January this year our source said, is being made to insist that he was forced to resign.
He has therefore filled a counter affidavit to a suit by a PDP member from Adamawa state seeking to sack Muazu.
The source said all efforts by Muazu to pacify the aggrieved Governors have been rebuffed by them.
