There are strong indications that senator Andy Uba, representing Anambra south senatorial district of Anambra state in the National Assembly NASS, may likely dump the ruling peoples Democratic party PDP for opposition crisis ridden All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA.
Our correspondent gathered exclusively that the lawmaker began the secret move with the Victor Umeh, led faction of APGA after the dismal performance of the PDP in the Anambra state governorship election held in November 2013.
A source close to the senator who spoke to African Examiner under condition of anonymity in Enugu, said “actually, plans are afoot by our leader, senator Uba to join APGA, except he decides to change his mind.”
“He has opened talks with the stakeholders within the All Progressive Grand Alliance on the possible prospects of joining the APGA.” the source stated.
Besides, the source further said, Senator Uba believed he was treated unfairly by PDP during its gubernatorial primaries in the last Anambra State gubernatorial election.
Following his bitter experience at the PDP primaries where the party adopted Tony Nwoye’s candidacy over him, the senator was alleged to have, instructed his supporters and ‘paid’ campaigners to move over to the APGA camp to support their candidate, Willy Obiano, who eventually won the election.
African Examiner also gathered that Uba, would have joined APGA before now if not for the endless leadership crisis that has been rocking the party.
But as usual with politicians, the Senator has denied the speculation, saying he remains a PDP member.
