Exclusive: PDP Senators Abandon Moves To Impeach Jonathan

The PDP Senators have shelved their plan to support the impeachment of President Goodluck Jonathan.

Our source disclosed that a truce has been reached by all parties especially on the issue of automatic tickets to some Senators.

“Some PDP Senators backed the idea of impeachment to draw commitment from the President and the party.

“They were unsure of their fate as their Governors have held the President to ransom so as to jettison his earlier agreement to give some Senators automatic ticket”.

The source said that the President felt he could least afford any impeachment move at this time ” especially when the election is around the corner, he felt it will be a big distraction to him”.

The source said that the Senator pulled the impeachment string to show the President that they are also an important stakeholders contrary to what the Governors are making the President to believe.

Meanwhile, APC senators and their counterparts in the house of representation are still bent on impeaching the president over what they described as constitutional breaches.
