Onitsha LGA Woman Chairman Beats Treasurer To Coma

The entire Onitsha South Local Government Area of Anambra state has been thrown into pandemonium, following the ongoing cold war between the chairman of the Council; Lady Ann Chukwuneke, and the Treasurer, Augustine Ezinwa.

The feud however, took a new twist last Wednesday, when the council boss, locked up the treasurer in her office, and ordered some of her suspected political thugs to beat the treasury officer black and blue. The beaten landed him into coma.

African Examiner’s investigation revealed that the incident was allegedly committed alongside Hon. Chibuike Akpotue, a loyalist of the lady chairman and supervising councilor for Health.

A source at the local government who doesn’t want his name in print told our correspondent that the fear of the council chairman, fondly referred to as “Mama Onitsha South” is the beginning of wisdom in the council headquarters, saying “I must tell you, the woman had been a torn in the flesh of every worker.”

“The worst is that Mama South always terrorise people, especially any perceived opponent with her thugs who are in the council payroll.”

African Examiner gathered that trouble started when the treasurer, refused to sign some alleged false documents aimed at retiring certain amount of unspent funds by the council boss.

“The source said when the treasurer refused to yield to pressure from Lady Chukwuneke to retire the undisclosed sum of money allegedly complied by the chairman as expenditure for the month of March, Mama South immediately invited her hit men who arrived the local government headquarters, seized the treasurer, and gave him the beaten of his life”, adding up till now, we were told he is still in coma.

According to the source, even while the beating was going on, the chairman allegedly insisted that the treasurer will not go out of her office until he signed the cheque, but the council treasury manager, ignored the order, leading to more hot slaps on his face by madam and her boys.

Another source close to the council boss, said: “Our chairman is always known for her hot temper, she is a hot tempered woman, she had seized the salary of the treasurer because of some misunderstanding which had been ongoing between them without staff of the council knowing it”

“But this one broke out when the chairman insisted that the stubbornness of the treasurer was unbecoming and tried to force him to endorse a cheque when the man refused and the woman gave him a hot slap” the source said.

It was gathered that already, some councilors in the local government area who are worried and tired of the chairman’s dictatorial style of leadership are spoiling for war, as they have allegedly commenced compilation of some impeachable offences of the lady chairman.

However, all efforts to speak with the embattled chairman, hit the brick wall as she did not answer any of the calls put across to he phone.
