EXCLUSIVE: At Last, Diezani Madueke’s Multi Billion Naira FM Station Hits Airwaves

Enugu, Nigeria (AFRICAN) EXAMINER) – After several months of test- running, the multi-billion-naira state of the art frequency Modulation (FM) Radio station owned by Nigeria’s immediate past Minister of Petroleum, Mrs. Diezani Alison Maduke, has hit the airwaves.
The station, known as “Urban Radio” located at Independence Layout area of Enugu, the capital of Enugu state, transmits from 94.5 frequency modulation.
It would be recalled that AFRICAN EXAMINER had exclusively reported in September 2015, that the station was set to hit the airwaves.
However, a source close to the Radio station recently told our Correspondent under condition of anonymity that the Television (TV) part of the outfit would soon come on stream.
Our Correspondent reports that Urban Radio, has brought to 3 the total number of privately owned radio stations in Enugu.
Other includes, Dream FM, owned by the Deputy Senate president, Chief Ike Ekweremadu, and Solid FM, which belongs to the late former Nigeria’s Minister of Information, Professor Dora Akunyili.
The ex- flamboyant petroleum Minister, was among the kitchen cabinet members of former president Goodluck Jonathan’s led government.
The Source, said “the digital TV stations when completed, will be one of the most powerful privately owned television stations in the south- East and South- South geo political zone of Nigeria.
Owing to its attractive remuneration, African Examiner learnt that the stations has been poaching seasoned broadcasters within and outside South east zone since it commenced operation.
The former Minister who hails from Bayelsa state,is married to a one time military Governor of old Anambra state, Rear Admiral Allison Amaechina Madueke, who is from Oji River local government Area of Enugu State.
