Enugu Records Card Reader Improvement, Low Turnout Of Voters
Featured, Latest Headlines Saturday, April 11th, 2015FROM IGNATIUS OKPARA – Unlike the March 28th, presidential/ National Assembly polls, the INEC card read device is functioning well in today’s governorship and House of Assembly elections in parts of Enugu state.
Meanwhile, there had been serious voter apathy in most of the rural communities visited by African Examiner.
African Examiner Correspondent monitoring the polls in the state, observed in various polling units visited that the machine was working effectively, as scores of voters were seen being accredited by the electoral officers without much stress.
INEC electoral officers at Likee Ekutara ward, in Iheaka, Igboeze South council Area of the state, told newsmen that the card reader had been functioning fine unlike the presidential/ National Assembly election.
He said though, they will still make use of the manual method in case of any difficulty in capturing voters.
Speaking to reporters shortly after his accreditation, one time chairman of Igboeze South council Area of the state, Dr. Godsmark Ugwu, expressed satisfaction with the security arrangement and improvement in the card reader machine.
Meanwhile, accreditation is still ongoing in parts of the state as at the time of filling this report.
