Enugu Police Nab 2 for Attempted Armed Robbery

Police operatives in Awgu council area of Enugu state Thursday nabbed two middle-aged men for alleged attempted armed robbery.
The suspects; Chinonso Esom and Chidiebere Okoro, where being ferried to Mgbowo, community in same Agwu council area on a motorcycle at about 6.58 pm when suddenly they pulled out a gun and ordered the motorcyclist to stop and surrender the key.
The incident, occurred just a stone throw after Mgbowo secondary school along Ndeabor community.
Ebere Amarizu, the state police public Relations Officer PPR0, who confirmed the incident, said the motorcyclist, identified as Basil Sunday, remained courageous during the encounter after observing that the gun the suspects brandished was a toy
According to the state police spokesman, it was when Sunday noticed that the gun was toy that he decided to resist them from dispossessing him of his motorcycle and valuables.
He said, angered by Sunday’s resistance, the suspects, engaged him a fight which made the victim to raised alarm which attracted the attention of passersby and security men who came to his rescue.
One of the suspects, Esom Chinonso took to his heels and escaped while the other, Chidiebere Okoro was apprehended.
Amaraizu, disclosed that, “the toy guns used in the operation has been recovered, adding that the suspects will be prosecuted once investigation is complete.”
