Enugu Police Arrest Undergraduate for Stabbing Prostitute to Death

ENUGU NIGERIA, (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The Enugu State Police Command has arrested one Emmanuel Ezeugwu, a final year student of the Department of Public Administration, Institute of Management Technology (IMT) Enugu, for allegedly stabbing to death a commercial sex worker in his room after a disagreement between them around 3am Sunday morning .

Ezeugwu, who hails from Ezimo, in Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu state, but resides at No 16, Onuato, Ogui new layout Enugu, picked the prostitute at a red light spot along Rangers Avenue Enugu, with the aim of passing the night with her after they reached an agreement of 4,000 per night.

The Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Ebere Amarizu, who disclosed this to AFRICAN EXAMINER Tuesday said “On that fateful day of 22/10/17 at about 3am, the conjugation story turned sour.

He said preliminary investigation by the police reveals that “Ezeugwu Emmanuel had on 21/10/17 being Saturday, allegedly picked up a commercial sex worker at a red light located around Rangers Avenue Enugu, probably to pass a night with her, and with a financial understanding of the sum of N4000 for a day break show.

According to him, before the student went home with the deceased sex worker, he had already drunk himself to stupor, adding that on getting to his room, “and because it was already getting late, he demanded that they set into the business of the day, but his request/demand did not influence anything, as the deceased allegedly requested him to allow her finish what she was inhaling in order to be in the business of the day mood.

Amarizu said the accused told the police that “after several hours of pressurizing her without any answer, he (Ezeugwu) slept off, and woke up before 3am, and immediately demanded that the deceased prostitute leaves the room since the aim of bringing her appears to be counterproductive.

Said the PPRO: “At that juncture according to the accused, the deceased resisted the move and warned the accused person to beware as she will not succumb to his threat or whatsoever.

After the altercation, the deceased held and bite the accused, after which she immediately grabbed a knife from Ezeugwu’s kitchen, and was about stabbing him, a move that led to a serious fight between them.

But Ezeugwu, overpowered her, however, as they were struggling with the kitchen knife, the object pierced into the deceased stomach and her neck region, leading to her death at the spot.

The police said on noticing that the prostitute has giving up the ghost, Ezeugwu, decided to wrap and hide her in his room while thinking of what to do with the corpse.

“Meanwhile, people living in the same compound with him suspected some issues going on and alerted members of the Neighbourhood watch group of the area who alerted the police promptly, but before the security men could arrive, he has left the area.

Amarizu, disclosed that Ezeugwu, was on his way to Lagos when he “was promptly nabbed by the operatives of the command through intelligence information, having been alerted.

“His room were later searched and the dead body of the deceased seen and recovered and deposited at the mortuary of the Eastern Nigeria Medical Centre Enugu.

“Ezeugwu is now regretting his actions and blaming the entire situation to drunkenness which allegedly led him into the situation” disclosing that full scale Investigations have commenced on the matter.
