Enugu: PDP, LP In Tight Race; Each Party Wins 4 Of 8 LGAs Announced
Featured, Latest Headlines, News, News Across Nigeria Sunday, March 19th, 2023(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the Labour Party (LP) have both won 4 local government areas each, in the eight LGA results so far announced by the Independent National Electoral INEC in the Governorship and House of Assembly elections held in Enugu state.
PDP’s Gubernatorial Candidate Dr. Peter Mbah, won Aninri, Udi, Ezeagu, and Uzo-Uwani Council Areas, while the opposition LP, party Flagbearer, Barrister Chijioke Edoga, picked Oji-River, Igboeze North, Igbo Etiti and Isi-uzo.
In Aninri Council Area, PDP won with 6520 votes while Labour Party recorded 3431 votes. At Udi local government area, the PDP recorded 13,633 against Labour’s 10,109. Labour garnered over 12,518 to clear Isi-uzo while PDP polled 6,381 votes.
Also the LP won in Igbo Etiti with 11,941 votes while PDP trailed with 8959 votes. Totally, the Labour party is slightly leading with 66,907 against PDP’s 66,471.
As at the time of filing this report, INEC has resumed announcement of the remaining 9 Local government areas, after it went on break.
Enugu has a total of 17 Council areas, and the next governor that will pilot the affairs of the state in the next four years would be declared at the end of counting of results today (Sunday) by the electoral umpire, INEC.
