Enugu CJ Inaugurates Panel To Probe Igbo-Eze North LGA Boss Over 1.7Bn Fraud

Justice Innocent Umezulike, the chief judge of Enugu state has inaugurated a 7-man impeachment panel to investigate the alleged misappropriation and embezzlement of local government funds by the Chairman of Igbo-Eze North council area, Mr. Bonaventure Onu.
Mr Onu is under investigation for mismanaging a total sum of N1.7 billion naira belonging to Igbo-Eze North local government council.
Members of the panel are: Nestor Ezeme (Chairman), Comrade Uwakwe Ezeja (Secretary), Franca Asogwa, Tony Ugwudike, Simon Ossai, Magnus Eze and Ugwuanyi Benjamin.
Shortly after swearing in the panel, Justice Umezulike applauded the Chairman and the panel members for being found worthy to be chosen for such important assignment.
The Enugu state number one law officer, who was assisted by Justice Romanus Odugu, and a member of the Judicial Service Commission, (JSC) Ofoma Agbo, enjoined the panel to discharge the onerous task without fear or favour.
Besides, the Chief Judge, also urged them to accord respect to all who appear before the panel in the course of their investigation, adding that they should equally give every one fair hearing.
Responding, on behalf of the members, the chairman,Ezeme, had assured the state and the people of Igbo-Eze North that they would discharge their duties diligently.
He added that the panel would give every one fair hearing with a view to ensuring that justice is served.
