Ekiti Guber Poll: Accreditation of Voters Witnesses Massive Turn Out
Latest Headlines, News, Politics Saturday, June 21st, 2014Accreditation for Ekiti governorship election today started at exactly 8:00am with large. turnout of voters. About 418,000 voters are expected to take part in the exercise.
As voters moved around to be accredited, heavy security personnel are stationed at the strategic and marked points in and around Ado-Ekiti city. African Examiner observed early arrival of voting materials as early as 7 am at Ojumose area of the state capital.
Our correspondents also learnt that there was large turnout of voters in Iworoko, Afao, Are, Emure areas, without any indication of intimidation of voters.
However, many eligible voters in Gboin Local government area may not be able to participate in the election as they do not have permanent voters’ cards.
Meanwhile, a national Electoral Commissioner, Dr Lai Olurode gave assurance that the electoral empire – INEC was poised to conduct a free and fair governorship election in the state, also being closely monitored from Abuja by the INEC Chairman, Professor Attahiru Jeja. .
