Eid el-Fitr: FG Extends Holiday Till July 7
Featured, Latest Headlines, News Tuesday, July 5th, 2016ABUJA, NIGERIA (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The Federal Government (FG) has extended the Eid el-Fitr holiday till Thursday, July 7 2016.
The announcement was made Tuesday in a statement on behalf of FG by the Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. Abdul Rahman Dambazau.
The statement which was issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Bassey Okon, confirmed the change in the holiday.
It would be recalled Tuesday July 5 and July 6 have earlier been declared as public holiday. This is to allow the Muslims to mark the end of Ramadan fasting which ends in Nigeria and most parts of the world today (Tuesday).
The Nigerian Muslims’ Leader, Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar Monday night having confirmed the state of the moon sighting, officially declared that the year’s Ramadan fasting ends today thereby, Sallah will hold Wednesday.
