Eid-el-Fitr: FG Declares Next Tuesday, Wednesday As Public Holidays

ABUJA, NIGERIA (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The Federal Government (FG) has declared Tuesday July 5 and Wednesday 6, 2016 as public holidays to mark Eid-el Fitri – end of Ramadan fasting.
In a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Bassey Akpanyung, the Minister in charge, Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (retd.), on behalf of the Federal Government, made the declaration in Abuja Thursday.
The Minister urged all Muslim faithful and Nigerians to extend the spiritual benefits of Ramadan, which are love, peace and justice to their daily living and through this contribute to the development of the nation.
Gen. Dambazau also urged Nigerians to use the opportunity of the spiritual rejuvenation to “reflect on the imperative of unity and peaceful co-existence in strengthening the bond of togetherness for a strong, virile nation.”
While wishing Nigerians a peaceful celebration, the Minister called for total support for President Muhammadu Buhari’s determination to bequeath to the nation an enduring political legacy.
