The Edo state government has cancelled competency test introduced by the incumbent Governor Adams Oshiomhole for the state’s teachers.
Oshiomhole announced the cancellation Thursday during an interactive session with the executives of Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) in Benin, the state capital.
The Governor also announced that 936 civil servants sacked for age falsification and certificate forgery have been reinstated.
Governor Oshiomhole said the decision was taken after a wide consultation with all the stakeholders in the state, adding that the state would now embark on training and retraining of teachers and other civil servants instead of mandatory competency test.
Similarly, he added that his administration would continue to implement people oriented programmes.
